My first car was a 1962 Galaxie 500 406 4sp single four barrel. At the time I did not know that the car would be a collector car in the future. I sold that car for 900.00 dollars and thought I was doing good. If I could have seen into the future. I now have bought a 1962 galaxie 2 door hardtop and had planned to do a 406 tribute car.
Those plans changed do to the fact that the 406 parts are getting almost impossible to find. I decided to go with a mix of modern and old school. This Galaxie was a two owner car that was purchased by the second owner in 1964 and driven till 1986. The car blew the original 352 and was put in a garage until 2014 when it was pulled out and sold to me. The car was 98 percent rust free with just a spot of rust on the lower left quarter panel.
decided to do a frame off restore. the car. have spent the better part of a year and the car is almost finished. I did not want this to end up a lost project. Car now has a bored and balanced mild built 390. Original cruise o matic. rebuilt stock rear end. Modern disc brake set up with a vintage air system. built for cruising.
