1963 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible.

This Galaxie was delivered new to Damerow Ford in Beaverton, Oregon in the Spring of 1963. Originally purchased by a gentlemen named Bill Ireland who was a prominent Drag Racer in the Pacific Northwest during the sixties and seventies. I am the fourth owner and I have been fortunate to have talked to two of the previous owners who have given me details of the background of the vehicle.
The car is well documented as I have both the original Broadcast Sheet and Window Sticker.
The car was assembled in March, 1963 at the Louisville plant. It is a genuine “R” Code meaning it is equipped with the 425HP, 427 cu. in. dual four barrel engine. Also fitted with the BW 4-Speed Transmission and 4.11 rear axle. Raven Black paint, black interior and black convertible top. It's the only triple black '63 R- Code Convertible that I've encountered. I'm sure they made more of them and it would be interesting to know if any more survive. Please let me know if you are aware of any.
Only 411 427 Galaxie Convertibles were produced for the 1963 model run. This includes both the 8V and 4V versions.
I bought the convert. In 1998 and took it through a 5-year restoration project. The car is equipped just as it left the factory with the exception of bigger tires and wheels, aftermarket exhaust and a Pertronix chip replacing the factory dual points.
