1972 Galaxie 500
Manchester, Connecticut

1972 Galaxie 500, 2-Dr Hardtop, 351 Windsor, FMX Auto, PDB, PS, A/C. Purchased from original owner in 1995 with 34,000 original miles. A true survivor with original paint, vinyl roof, chrome, stainless, engine & trans, upholstery, headliner, carpets and interior trim; it even has the original floor mats.

While I still have the original factory wheels and turbine wheel covers, I opted for chrome reverse rims with baby moon hubcaps and modern radial tires. The only other change to the car's appearance has been to install an aftermarket steering wheel until I have the original wheel restored. Otherwise, the car retains it's original appearance.

I have performed some mechanical upgrades to increase performance and reliability. These upgrades include a Holly 600 4 barrel carb on an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake, an MSD billit aluminum HEI distributer with a Blaster 3 coil, aluminized dual exhausts with Flowmasters, KBY shocks and a re-cored radiator. All other driveline components are original to the car.

This full-size Ford is a great cruiser; comfortable, dependable and a smooth performer. While not considered a "musclecar," it has decent power for a car weighing in at just over 4,000 lbs and seems to perform best on the highways.

My first car was a 1969 Ford Custom 4-Dr sedan, an ex-Connecticut State Police cruiser with a 428 Police interceptor and a C-6 auto trans. Next came a 1972 with 429 PI and C-6. So, as you can see, I liked the full-sized Fords, still do even though I've had quite a few musclecars since including a Nova SS, a Torino GT, a GTO and a Ranchero GT, to name a few. But I prefer the big Fords and will hold on to my current Galaxie until it's time to pass it on to my next-of-kin.

The pictures show our Galaxie on the showfield at the 2019 Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA.
